46 percent of Americans support expanding the Supreme Court

A Fox News poll of registered voters found that 46 percent supported increasing the number of Supreme Court justices.

The number included 19 percent who strongly favored the change, along with 26 percent who favored the change.

In contrast, 51 percent opposed expanding the court, including 19 percent somewhat opposed and 32 percent strongly opposed.

Many Democrats have supported the expansion of “packing” of the court after three new conservative justices were added during former President Donald Trump’s four years in office.

According to the Fox News poll, the results are up 35 percent since the same poll last year.

The rapid change in American voter attitudes on the issue may be related to growing partisanship in the court. Regardless of the reasons, the new poll shows now nearly half of voters are open to the controversial change that has stood for more than one and a half centuries.
