Chicago, Illinois, saw a bloody weekend with 23 individuals shot and five dead as liberal Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D) moved forward with plans to make the city a refuge for those seeking abortions.
Breitbart News reported that there at least 15 people were shot Friday into Sunday morning alone in Chicago, and those shootings ended in two fatalities, both of whom died on Saturday.
According to ABC 7 / Chicago Sun-Times, the total of shooting victims for the weekend rose to almost two dozen by Monday morning, with three additional fatalities due to gun violence in the liberal-ruled city.
“The first additional fatal shooting occurred Friday night around 7:45 p.m., when 37-year-old Michael Conrad was shot while sitting ‘in a white Chrysler in the 4400-block of North Hamlin Avenue.’ Conrad tried to drive from the scene but crashed. He was taken to a hospital, where he died,” Breitbart News reported.
“The second additional fatal shooting occurred Sunday at 7:44 p.m. when a 20-year-old man “in the 1200-block of West 72nd Place” was shot in the head during a drive-by incident. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. The final fatal shooting of the weekend occurred at 9:35 p.m. Sunday, when another 20-year-old man was struck by gunfire while standing in this kitchen “in the 2100-block of West Maypole Avenue.” The gunfire came from outside of his home. The man was taken to the hospital, where he died.”
Chicago’s mayor, however, appears to be fixated on making their city a haven for those who want to end the lives of their unborn. According to a report by Fox News, the city is allocating $500,000 in funds for people who want to come from neighboring states to seek out abortions.
“Fundamentally, it reaffirms Chicago as a welcoming city, a city that doesn’t discriminate and a city that’s going to stand with women,” Lightfoot said, confirming that the money is a “down payment” meant to start addressing the “immediate hurdles” for those on the front lines of the issue.
When asked if $500,000 would be enough to support women who come in from out of state, Lightfoot asserted that the price tag is a “down payment” to address the “immediate hurdles” for frontline workers.
Lightfoot previously claimed there was an “exponential increase” in calls to helplines following abortion restrictions in Texas last year, and again in response to the leaked Supreme Court opinion indicating the possible end of Roe v. Wade.
Chicago is already a safe haven for drugs and murders as shown in the media

Lori Lightfoot vows Chicago will be an ‘oasis’ for abortions if Roe v. Wade is overturnedhttps://t.co/1i0TgPw8yq

“If you look around Chicago, we’ve got a number of states that have the so-called trigger laws that would ban abortion upon the reverse of Roe. So we’ve seen a substantial increase already,” Lightfoot said. “And we’re expecting, frankly, an explosion of new cases from women in Wisconsin, Missouri, potentially Michigan, Indiana. I think the list is long. And Chicago is going to be an oasis in the Midwest, and we’ve got to be ready.”
“So this is a start and not an ending, but it is absolutely a time for us to rally together and make sure that we are reunited and not turning back the clock on women’s lives,” the mayor added.
